Do you want to see more regulation of private landlords? More affordable homes built to a high eco standard? Lower energy bills through better insulation?

Independent candidate Jamie Driscoll is going to fight for these things if he's elected as North East Mayor on May 2nd.

Already as Mayor of half the region, he's built over 2,000 homes on derelict land, refused developments that didn't include affordable homes and launched a skills programme to train people to retrofit homes.

If he lands the larger role as North East Mayor, he's pledging to:

  • Fight for powers to improve tenants' rights and regulate rogue landlords
  • Establish a publicly owned company to buy up empty properties and rent them out to social housing standards
  • Continue supporting community land trusts to develop cooperative housing
